About the position

To ensure the best possible learning environment, the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (IE) will continue the student Buddy scheme at our study programmes in Trondheim, for the fall semester 2023. Focus will be on helping the new students get started with student life and their education, both academically and socially.

All international master's programmes at the IE faculty (campus Trondheim) will have a student buddy. We need 6 student buddies for 5 study programmes.

Duties of the position

  • Participate in the reception of the new students at study start (e.g., arrange welcome meeting for your student group)
  • Schedule and conduct meetings/events with said group of students throughout the fall semester, approx. once or twice per month (e.g., study night, hiking trip, movie night etc.)
  • Attend contact meetings with the academic staff / study program, if needed.
  • Take part in cooperation and meetings with the other student buddies at the faculty.
  • Participate in evaluation meetings and write short reports/notes from events arranged by the buddy group.

Required selection criteria

  • Registered student at the IE-faculty.
  • Good written and oral English language.

Preferred selection criteria

  • Experience with studies abroad and/or living abroad.
  • Current student at one of the following international master programmes at the IE-faculty:

Personal characteristics

  • You can work independently, structured and are good at planning.
  • You are outgoing, empathetic and can improvise.
  • You are motivated to work with new students for a better learning environment at NTNU.
  • You have insight into relevant study program, its structure and academic content, especially the 1st year of study.

Salary and conditions

The job as a student buddy is paid (including training and meetings). The salary is 173,54, - NOK per hour. Working hours are normally two hours every other week throughout the fall semester – the start of the semester might require a few extra hours. The distribution of working hours will be determined together with the supervisor.

As a student Buddy, you will receive training to prepare for the job. You will also be followed up by a supervisor at the faculty, throughout the semester.

The training will take place in June.

Changes in duties may occur.
